Expertise

Marine geologic processes and their interplay with climate and anthropogenic stressors form the heart of my research. I investigate these processes in open oceans, marginal seas, continental margins and coastal waters. To derive information from the seafloor I use hydroacoustic data in conjunction with visual observations and sedimentary and geochemical archives. Wherever possible the surface data are complemented by seismic images of the sub-seafloor at different scales, ranging from high-resolution sub-bottom profiler data to deep-penetrating seismic reflection lines.
