Lending and Service

The purpose of the oceanography library is to meet the literary needs of staff members and students of IOW. However, the library is also open for study to interested members of the public. Books may be checked out; however, journals and periodicals can only be used at IOW. Copying facilities are available at the library.

 

When registering as a library user, it is important to show some form of identification, e.g. ID card or passport.

 

The password for the borrower account is the 6-digit birthdate of the user. The password can be changed by the user.

 

Lending

The loan period for books is 29 days. It can be extended online, unless somebody else already made a reservation on the same book and the loan period was not yet exceeded. To extend the loan period, please use the link "My Account" on the upper right hand side of the online catalogue.

 

For employees of the IOW, the loan period for IOW books is extended automatically up to 12 times, so the online loan renewal does not have to be used. Is the automatic loan extension impossible, an information e-mail will be sent. In this case, the books have to be brought to the library for renewal.

 

IOW employees only can use a scanner and can make copies in the library.

 

PCs for research, e.g. in the online catalogue, are available.
