Anoxic conditions with partly high concentrations of H2S dominated the deep water in the Bornholm and Gdańsk Basins as well as in the eastern Gotland Basin in 1988. In contrast to these basins, oxygen was measured in the bottom water of the northern and western Gotland Basins in May and November (NEHRING & FRANCKE, 1990a).
