Session 3 (7th October 2015): Workshop “Demonstration missions and improving knowledge for a fully integrated coastal management”
This session is a synthesis workshop based on session 1 and 2 and aims to identify key areas in Europe that already have a very good data basis and therefore are appropriate to research integrated coastal management. It is anticipated that a transdisciplinary coastal research across Europe will cross-fertilize not only the key areas envisaged for demonstration missions but also areas where integrated coastal management is in an earlier stage.
In preparation, the scientific committee will propose a concept for key areas. At the workshop, participants are invited to contribute own ideas. They will discuss expected developments in marine sciences in the upcoming years and identify research needs for a fully integrated coastal management in the light of relevant European policies (e.g. Marine Strategy Framework Directive, Common Fisheries Policy, Marine Spatial Planning Framework Directive).
The demonstration missions will be the scientific backbone for a European collaborative project. The research institutions will specify the required resources to be covered by own contributions and additional project funding.
Venue: Einstein Hall
Please note: this is the final programme, however changes might occur due to unforeseen events/practicalities
