ILWAO II:
International Leibniz Graduate School for Gravity Waves and Turbulence in the Ocean
- Duration:
- 01.07.2012 - 30.06.2017
- Project coordinated by:
- Leibniz-Institut für Atmosphärenphysik (IAP)
- Project manager (IOW):
- Prof. Dr. Hans Burchard
- Funding:
- Leibniz-Gemeinschaft
- Researchfocus:
-
Focus 1: Small- and meso-scale processes
- Partners:
The graduate school ILWAO shall be continued as a cooperation between two Leibniz Institutes (IAP, Kühlungsborn, and IOW, Warnemünde) and the Rostock University. The common scientific subjects in these institutes are waves and turbulence which are important in the atmosphere and ocean but which are poorly understood. A first phase of ILWAO turned out to be very successful. Several open scientific topics shall be dealt with in the future. ILWAO is not intended as a long-term commitment and shall therefore not be part of the institutional funding. This would also exclude the participation of the University.
