This sub-workpackage will perform development and simulation of scenarios for the western Baltic Sea. Based on reference simulations changes in ecosystem services will be simulated. Parameters with particular relevance for sedimentary service functions are: denitrification, accumulation and burial, oxygen demand and concentration, transport and fluxes of dissolved and particulate constituents between sediment and water.  Aims are the documentation of quantitative shifts in elemental budgets and respective changes in ecosystem services.

The sediment module of ERGOM will be improved with the aim to replace highly parameterized processes by a refined process resolution. Intended is an improvement of the predictive capability.
