Ongoing operation of the oceanographic measurements on FINO2 with the help of the automatic, motor lift-based and vertically profiling hydrographic measuring system (sensor lift). The sensor lift designed for offshore measurement platforms in shallow water areas will continue to be operated and optimized in continuous measurement operation using the FINO2 research platform. The focus is on energy optimization and an adjustment from a fixed route to an event-controlled route. After a year of parallel operation of the reduced, “rigid” measuring chain and the profiling sensor lift, the aim is to completely dismantle the original system.
Project goals: Development of energy outage protection based on renewable energy sources, as well as the automated, individual adaptation of the route to individual events, for example storm events. The focus is on verifying the profiling data series against the static, physical and bio-geo-chemical sensor data. Furthermore, the acquisition of vertical profiles is required to display high-resolution data of the entire water column and to make this available for use in the maritime industry. At the same time, they serve for marine research, environmental monitoring and the preservation of evidence.
