SFB/TRR 181:
[subproject] SFB/TRR 181 Energy transfer in the atmosphere and the ocean, T2: Energy budget of the ocean surface mixed layer

The main energy pathways in the meso-scale range (from roughly 100 m to 10 km) will be identi fied, quantifi ed, and parameterised, with the ultimate goal to incorporate them into global climate models. This will be done using a numerical approach consisting of two di fferent model studies specialised in both turbulent  ows and regional ocean processes, as well as a dedicated field program using the Baltic Sea as a \natural laboratory" for the observation of sub-meso-scale energy pathways.
