WG Environmental Microbiology

Currently I am guest at the Third Institute of Oceanography of SOA, Xiamen. We are working with selected phage host systems.

Research interests

  • Interaction between aquatic bacteria and their phages.
  • Bacterial activities at oxic/anoxic interfaces, focussing on manganese cycling, chemolithotrophic carbon dioxide fixation and nitrogen cycle.
  • Activity, composition and abundances of chemolithotrophic nitrifying bacteria.
  • Bacteria in the pelagic microbial food web.
